The year 1933 is an unforgettable year in the hearts of the people of Kottar chettu Samuthayam.
Due to the sincere and undaunted efforts of Sri.M.Chidambarakumar moopanar popularly known as Appavu chettiar, the D.V.D English
school was started in the year 1933.It was a great boon to the year 1933.
It was a great boon not only to the local residents but also to the local children
of various communities all over from the town. Sensing the growth and necessity of the institution it was inaugrated by the
Diwan Mr.Austin of the erstwhile Trivancore Cochin State. First it was started as middle school. In 1941 it was upgraded as
a highschool. Primary section was included in 1950. In 1953 teacher training course was also started as an additional feather
to the crown of this instituition.
When the P.S.S scheme (Panamballi Govinda menon ex.education minister's scheme) was launched
in 1950 this was the first management in this district to accede to it.
According to the New education policy of 1978 it was upgraded as higher secondary school
This school is run by Nainar Desika Vinayagar Devasthanam trust. One of the 5 trustees was elected as manager to administrate
and look after the whole institution till 1978. As per the new education policy in 1978 a school committee was formed. The
President and the secretary of the school committee are elected by the educational agencies of this chettu community. The
school committee consists of six elected members and five senior staff members.Among the elected six members one is elected
as president and one is elected as the secretary of the school committee.
This was the only school which fulfilled the aspects of educational necessities of the nearby localities such as Vadiveeswaram,
Kottar, Parakkai etc. Even before the inaguration of pre noon meal scheme of Tamilnadu government the poor children of primary
section of this school were fed with free lunch meals by the philanthropic trust of this institution.
